Is your business visible to AI?

When people ask ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity or Google for a recommendation, does your business come up, and is what they say about you right?

Our AI Discoverability Audit shows you exactly how search engines and AI platforms find, understand and describe your business today, how you compare with competitors, and the practical steps to improve it.

Why AI discoverability matters now

The way people find businesses is changing. Instead of scrolling through ten blue links, more and more customers ask an AI assistant a question and act on the answer it gives them.

That creates a new set of questions for every business:

  • Are you being recommended? If an AI tool lists three suppliers in your field and you’re not one of them, you may never know you missed out.
  • Is the information accurate? AI platforms can describe your business using out-of-date, incomplete or simply wrong information, or confuse you with a similarly named company.
  • Are you being cited? When AI answers draw on your expertise, do they credit and link to your website, or to someone else’s?

This is often called GEO (Generative Engine Optimisation): making sure your business is found, understood and represented accurately by AI-powered search. It builds on good SEO, but it isn’t the same thing, and many websites that rank well on Google are still poorly represented in AI answers.

What the audit covers

Every audit is tailored to your business, industry and goals, but each one answers five core questions.

  1. How do AI platforms describe you? We test how the major AI assistants and Google’s AI Overviews respond to the kinds of questions your customers actually ask: whether you appear, how accurately you’re described, and whether answers link back to you.
  2. How do you compare with competitors? We benchmark your AI visibility against the businesses you compete with, so you can see who’s being recommended and why.
  3. Can search engines and AI platforms access and understand your website? A behind-the-scenes technical review of your website and hosting setup to find anything that stops your content being found, read or attributed correctly.
  4. Does your content signal expertise and trust? We review how your website communicates who you are, what you do and why you’re credible, which are the signals AI platforms rely on when choosing what to recommend.
  5. What does the wider web say about you? AI platforms draw heavily on information beyond your own website. We review how you’re represented across the off-site sources that shape AI answers.

How it works

We work in three clear phases, and you decide whether to continue after each one.

  1. Phase 1: Audit and baseline. We assess where your business stands today and deliver:
    • A plain-English findings report on what AI platforms currently say about you, what’s accurate, what’s wrong or missing, and how you compare with competitors.
    • A benchmark score we can measure progress against.
    • A prioritised action plan, ranked by impact and effort, covering website fixes, content suggestions for your team, and off-site actions.
    • A walkthrough call to take you through the findings and agree what to tackle first.
  2. Phase 2: Implementation (optional). We action the recommendations from your audit. Every business is different, so this phase is scoped and quoted based on what Phase 1 finds.
  3. Phase 3: Re-test (optional). Once the Phase 2 changes are live, we re-run the Phase 1 testing and report on what’s improved against your original benchmark.

Why Avenue De Saxe

Anyone can type their business name into an AI tool. The value is in testing it properly, seeing behind your website, and knowing which fixes will actually make a difference.

  • We look behind the website, not just at it. We build, host and maintain around 100 websites, so we know where technical issues hide in hosting, server and website settings that outside tools can’t see.
  • A reliable, repeatable method. AI answers vary by account, location and day. Our testing approach controls for that, so results are meaningful and can be re-measured over time.
  • Advice specific to you. Recommendations are prioritised for your business, industry and website setup, not pulled from a generic checklist.
  • One team from audit to action. As a full-service creative agency, we can implement the fixes too, from website changes to new content, photography and video, without handing you over to someone else.

Frequently asked questions

What’s the difference between SEO and GEO?

SEO (Search Engine Optimisation) helps your website rank in traditional search results. GEO (Generative Engine Optimisation) helps AI platforms find, understand and accurately describe your business when they generate answers. They overlap, and good SEO is a strong foundation, but ranking well on Google doesn’t guarantee you’ll be mentioned in AI answers.

Which AI platforms do you test?

We focus on the platforms your customers are most likely to use, typically ChatGPT, Google Gemini, Google AI Overviews, Perplexity and Microsoft Copilot. As new platforms gain traction, we add them.

Can’t I just ask ChatGPT about my business myself?

You can, and it’s a good way to get a feel for the issue. But AI answers change depending on your account, location, chat history and even the day, so one-off checks can be misleading. A proper audit uses a consistent testing method, compares you with competitors, looks at the technical setup behind your website, and turns the results into a clear plan.

Can you guarantee AI platforms will recommend my business?

No one can honestly guarantee that. AI platforms decide what to include using their own systems, which change frequently. What we can do is remove the barriers that stop them finding and understanding you, strengthen the signals they rely on, and measure whether your visibility improves.

How much does an audit cost?

Every business is different, so we scope each audit individually based on the size of your website, your industry and what you want to achieve. Get in touch and we’ll provide a clear, fixed quote before any work begins.

How long does it take?

Most audits are completed within two to three weeks of approval, depending on the size of your website and how quickly we can confirm competitors and access details with you.

Do you need access to my website?

For websites we already host and maintain, we have everything we need. If your website is managed elsewhere, we’ll ask for access to a few key areas, such as your website admin and search console, so we can review what’s happening behind the scenes.

My website is already on an ADS support plan. Is this included?

No. Support and maintenance plans cover keeping your website secure, updated and running smoothly. An AI Discoverability Audit is separate research and strategy work, so it’s quoted on its own and doesn’t use your support hours.

Should I block AI platforms from my website?

It depends on your business. Blocking AI crawlers can protect content, but it can also mean AI platforms don’t recommend or cite you. We’ll explain the trade-offs for your situation as part of the audit.

How often should we re-test?

We recommend re-testing once any recommended changes are in place, and then periodically, as AI platforms and your competitors keep changing.
